Yeah.. I am periodically checking my comment logs to see if the ping shows up.. nothing yet.

Are you sure you're using trackbacks and not pingbacks?
  • kenmat · 1 year ago
Hi, Daniel! I'm sorry I'm not good at using trackbacks actually. Could you please tell me the difference between trackbacks and pingbacks? Thanks!
  • Phil Glockner · 1 year ago
    Nope.. not sure.

However, according to the link below, I guess what we are doing is
pingbacks. I will update my post with a full trackback.

The server at tamba2 (see link in my other comment) helpfully allows people to test trackbacks and pingbacks from their demo WP install. I sent a few out from this link, and I also used one of my articles to send that article a trackback to their trackback URL. My trackback to them was logged successfully, their trackbacks to two of my articles either failed or did not show up in Disqus.

Thanks for the info. We're still working out the issue.

Phil, I had the same issue as well : http://www.sheysmith.com/2008/06/17/testing-dis...

I'll try and ping your post
  • Phil Glockner · 1 year ago
Well, it looks like your site pinged mine just fine -- but either ignored the custom trackback URL or Disqus hasn't registered it yet, because, as you can see below, only recorded in one place.
  • Phil Glockner · 1 year ago
Ok, I give up. I changed the trackback URL on this article, and now I'm not getting ANY trackbacks! Argh.
  • Shey · 1 year ago
Now will try to ping your Disqus trackback URL: http://scribkin.disqus.com/trackback_this/track...
  • Phil Glockner · 1 year ago
    Ok, go for it. :)
  • Shey · 1 year ago
    nothing :(

I was trying to send trackbacks to Disqus from my site & it was failing (WordPress, self hosted), but when I captured the post request that was being sent by my site & pasted that into Fiddler & recreated the request it worked fine. Now that was truly odd
